Gulf Harbour Marina has become the latest Marina Partner of SeaKeepers South Pacific, giving boaties on Auckland's Whangaparāoa Peninsula a direct line into ocean research and conservation work happening across the region.
It's a logical addition to a growing list. SeaKeepers South Pacific has been steadily building its marina network throughout the country, and Gulf Harbour, with its easy run out to the Hauraki Gulf, was a natural next stop.
The marina itself needs little introduction to Auckland cruisers: full-service facilities, a strong resident boating community, and some of the best cruising grounds in the upper North Island right on the doorstep.
Under the partnership, Gulf Harbour will help promote SeaKeepers' citizen science work, its educational programmes, and scientist-led expeditions to marina users and visiting boats. In practice, that means vessel owners could end up collecting environmental data on their regular trips out, or offering their boats to host research missions.

There's scope for something bigger down the track, too. Joint educational events, community engagement days, and programmes pairing scientists and students with local boat owners have all been flagged as future possibilities, though nothing is locked in yet.
For everyday marina users, the appeal is simple: a chance to put an idle afternoon on the water to good use.
SeaKeepers South Pacific says it will keep adding marina, industry, and vessel partners as the network grows, with the aim of strengthening ties between recreational boaties and the scientific community working to protect the ocean.
The International SeaKeepers Society, the parent organisation, was founded in Monaco in 1998 and has spent more than 27 years engaging the yachting community in ocean research and education. Its DISCOVERY Programme now covers scientist-led expeditions, citizen science, educational outreach, and community engagement, run from its US headquarters with representation in Singapore, the South Pacific, and the UK.
