Gran Turismo 50's low, sea-level silhouette scoops top design award

The Gran Turismo 50 has won Best Exterior Design at the 2026 World Yacht Trophies, recognising the flagship model's reworked take on the express cruiser.

The Gran Turismo 50 leads the new generation of the Gran Turismo range. Robert Chaffer, Product Manager for Gran Turismo, said the design was built around a renewed vision of what an express cruiser should offer its owners.

The result is a yacht with a distinctive silhouette, pairing elegant lines with generous outdoor space. Compared with the previous generation, the new Gran Turismo 50 has a roofline more than 37 centimetres lower, while the aft cockpit deck sits just 90 centimetres above the water.

Once the platforms are extended, the available outdoor space is more than double that of the previous model, a deliberate choice aimed at making the most of time spent at anchor.

The design draws on the Japanese concept of Yūgen, an aesthetic philosophy that blends subtle beauty with deep emotion. That approach gives the Gran Turismo 50 a distinct personality and a fresh take on outdoor living, with a spacious aft cockpit and opening platforms creating a genuine living space with a direct view of the sea.

For Chaffer, that connection with the water sits at the heart of the experience the yacht offers.

Following its Best Exterior Design win, the Gran Turismo 50 has picked up two further international nominations. Results for the Best of Boats Awards will be announced on 26 November 2026 in Berlin, with the European Yacht of the Year result following on 23 January 2027 in Düsseldorf.

With these latest distinctions, the Gran Turismo 50 continues to build its reputation on a contemporary take on the express cruiser, one defined by a distinctive silhouette, generous outdoor spaces and a close relationship with the water.
