Futuro Boats has entered the electric market with its first battery powered model, the ZX20 E, launching the new VOLTA Series at Interboot 2026 in Friedrichshafen, Germany.
The hull itself comes from the existing ZX20 platform, previously offered with petrol outboards. The major change is the propulsion, with a single electric motor replacing combustion power. The marine aluminium hull retains its planing form and CE Category C classification.
Futuro is presenting the ZX20 E as the beginning of a dedicated electric range, rather than a standalone electric variant. The VOLTA name honours Italian physicist Alessandro Volta.
The ZX20 E retains the standard model's eight person layout, dining area, convertible bow sun lounger and integrated boarding ladder. At 700kg it remains readily trailerable, while its quoted 0.2 metre draft opens up very shallow cruising water.
Lake Constance also provides a fitting setting for the debut. The lake operates under strict emissions and noise regulations, reflecting both its international setting and environmental importance. It is also a major drinking water source for communities across the region.

Futuro Boats' German production and commercial partner MIZU, which is involved in Futuro production at Hilzingen and international sales from Stein am Rhein, Switzerland, is also showing the Twiel Z7 wooden electric catamaran and Cobrey Yachts 28SC on the same stand.
