Freedom Boat Club's newest location, based out of Hobart's Derwent Sailing Squadron, has taken delivery of its first boat: a brand new Rayglass Legend 2350 fresh from the factory.
The club operates across more than 400 locations worldwide, with existing bases in Auckland, Queenstown, Christchurch, and Sydney. The Hobart site sits on the Derwent River a few minutes from the CBD, with access to Storm Bay, Bruny Island, and more than 40 nautical miles of waterways.
It's also the only Freedom Boat Club location to operate out of a sailing squadron rather than a commercial marina. Members get access to all Squadron facilities, and visiting members from other countries receive a 30-day visitor pass.
Freedom Boat Club's model works on a one-time fee plus monthly membership, with fuelling, cleaning, maintenance, insurance, on-water training, and walk-on walk-off boat use all included, along with access to the club's global network.
The Legend 2350 is already a proven performer in the Freedom fleet, with four Rayglass 2350s running across the Sydney, Christchurch, and Auckland locations and more units on order. At 7.1 metres overall length, the boat is easy to tow and launch while still offering plenty of room for family use. Its advanced hull and wide turn-down chines deliver a dry, smooth ride across a wide range of conditions.
David Kurczewski, General Manager Freedom Boat Club Asia-Pacific, says the Rayglass models have been consistently popular. "The Rayglass boats on Sydney Harbour are by far our most popular boats right now. Likely a seasonal trend, but reflects our most committed members, and also current opportunities fishing, whale watching and cool weather cruising."
He expects the same appeal to carry through in Tasmania. "We expect this trend to continue in Tasmania where the Rayglass enclosed hardtop and dry, smooth ride will certainly be popular."
