France had spent much of the season searching for a breakthrough, and Sassnitz delivered it. From the moment the start gun fired, Emirates GBR appeared to have the race in hand. Fletcher's team nailed the line, built the fastest early acceleration, and led around the first mark with France and Australia tucked in behind. By the final upwind leg, they were the most composed crew on the water.
Tom Slingsby's Australia refused to give up on the race. Running third for the bulk of the contest, the Flying Roos gambled on a split at the final gate, and for a brief moment the move had the look of something special as they chased France down. The final gust they needed never arrived. France covered the threat well, maintained their momentum, and Australia crossed the line in second, banking useful points and further extending their lead at the top of the season standings.
Emirates GBR, so dominant in the opening exchanges, finished third after their early advantage unravelled when the breeze deserted them mid-race.

Emirates GBR showed real resilience in salvaging a podium finish after Saturday's bow-crushing collision had threatened to derail their regatta entirely.
For the Black Foils and the home team Germany, Sassnitz brought moments of promise but ultimately a weekend of missed opportunities. The venue has already secured its reputation as one of the most dramatic and unpredictable stops on the SailGP calendar.
