Aimee Fisher claimed gold in the Women's K1 1000m final at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Cup in Montreal over the weekend, adding another World Cup title to her collection.
Fisher crossed the line more than three seconds clear of Hungary's Zsoka Csikos and Germany's Caroline Heuser.
She returned the following day for the Women's K1 500m and finished fourth in the A final.
Scott Martlew also finished fourth, in the KL2 500m paracanoe. His first international outing of the year, the result added valuable qualification points towards the LA2028 Paralympics.
Quaid Thompson put in his best World Cup performance of the year in the Men's K1 5000m, finishing sixth overall. He also raced the Men's K1 1000m B final, placing seventh to sit 16th overall.
The New Zealand men's K4 crew of Kacey Ngataki, Kalani Gilbertson, Kaiha Gilbertson, and James Scott finished eighth in their 500m semifinal and did not advance. It was the first time this combination had raced together internationally, and the experience counts for plenty with a young crew finding its feet on the world stage.
