Aimee Fisher has done it again, adding a fifth world championship medal to her collection with silver in the women's K1 500m final at the 2026 Canoe Sprint and Paracanoe World Championships in Poznan overnight.
The result caps off a strong season for the New Zealander, who has already claimed two World Cup gold medals and a World Cup silver this year.
Fisher sat fourth at the 250m mark. From there she found another gear, working her way through the field to cross the line in 1:48.02 and secure second place.
Germany's Pauline Jagsch took the world title in 1:47.55. Behind Fisher, Australia's Drobot and Poland's Anna Pulawska both stopped the clock at 1:48.58 to share bronze.
Fisher's world championship medal tally now spans nearly a decade. She won gold in the WK1 500m back in 2021, and bronze in the WK1 1000m at last year's 2025 championships.
There's a team element to her history too. Fisher and Kayla Imrie took silver in the K2 500m in 2018, and she was part of the WK4 crew that won bronze in 2017 and silver the following year.
It's a record that speaks to remarkable consistency at the top level, and one that shows no sign of slowing down.
