Firecrown Media appears to have quietly shuttered two well-established marine publications, Yachts International and Anglers Journal, with neither closure receiving a formal announcement and both titles still listed without explanation on the company's public websites.
The end of Anglers Journal has been confirmed through subscriber chat groups, where readers have been informed the magazine is no longer in publication and that the balance of their subscriptions will be fulfilled by Saltwater Sportsman. Confirmation of the Yachts International closure is still being sought. Both titles were among a broader portfolio of magazines Firecrown acquired from Active Interest Media approximately a year ago.
Yachts International catered to the premium end of the boating world, covering new launches, design trends, charter opportunities, regulatory matters, industry figures, and global cruising destinations for large yacht owners and enthusiasts. The publication positioned itself as a connector between print, digital platforms, and exclusive owner experiences at major boat shows, with an aim to deliver an insider perspective on American yachting.
Anglers Journal had a different character altogether. Founded in 2014 by veteran editor Bill Sisson, the magazine was built around a clear editorial ambition: to create "the magazine you want to read." Rather than defaulting to conventional how-to fishing content, it championed literary storytelling, strong photography, and authentic voices. Its coverage ranged from bluegill to blue marlin, held together by grit, honesty, and genuine craft. Over its decade in print, the title attracted a devoted readership and earned multiple industry awards, establishing itself as a premium outlier in the recreational fishing publishing space.
Firecrown Media was reported last year to own 14 of America's leading boating magazines. That portfolio included Anglers Journal, Boater's University, Boating, Saltwater Sportsman, SFTV (Sports Fishing Television), Skinny Water, Cruising World, Passagemaker, Power & Motoryacht, Soundings, Sport Fishing, Soundings Trade Only, SAIL, Sailing World, Helly Hanson Sailing World Regatta Series, The Travelling Angler, Trawlerfest, United States Coastguard Boating Safety, Yachting, Yachts International, and Wakeboarding.
