The 2026 Auckland Boat Show provided the setting for a world premiere when Extreme Boats unveiled the 746 Game King, the newest addition to its long-running Game King lineup.
Rather than a simple update to the 745 Game King it replaces, the 746 Game King represents a thorough rethink. Extreme Boats went back to basics with the hull design, pursuing meaningfully better ride quality, sharper handling response, and greater capability in offshore conditions, all without sacrificing the trailerable dimensions that have made the Game King name so well regarded among New Zealand boaters.
Managing Director James Horman was on hand at the reveal to share his thoughts on what the new model means for the brand.
"It's incredibly exciting for us to be revealing our all new 746 Game King at the On Water Boat Show. This boat represents the next evolution of Xtreme Boats hull design."
Substantial changes to the hull sit at the core of what separates the 746 Game King from its predecessor. A steeper stem angle and reworked chines have been introduced to encourage a smoother, more settled running attitude. Deadrise figures come in at 24 degrees forward at station two and 20 degrees at the transom, a configuration that delivers a deep V entry at the bow while preserving solid stability at the stern.
The 746 Game King measures 7.48 metres overall, with a beam of 2.45 metres. Construction uses 5mm aluminium plate in the hull and transom, stepping down to 4mm plate for the sides and deck. Fully kitted out with trailer and outboard included, the complete package weighs approximately 2600kg, and the vessel carries a six-person rating.
Performance figures were gathered during testing with a Yamaha F300 outboard, running with four people on board alongside a typical spread of gear including a fridge and bow thruster. A 370 litre fuel tank was fitted for the runs. Under those conditions, the 746 Game King achieved a best cruise speed of around 23 knots, producing a calculated range of approximately 490 kilometres, or 265 nautical miles.
Adaptability is built into the Game King concept from the outset. Buyers can choose between an open cockpit and an enclosed wheelhouse configuration, while a modular approach to seating and transom arrangements means the boat can be tailored for dedicated fishing trips, offshore cruising, or time on the water with the family.
The Auckland Boat Show debut marks the 746 Game King's formal public introduction, with Extreme Boats positioning the model as the most recent step in its ongoing development of aluminium trailer boat design.
