eLY30+ takes Special Boats crown at Gdynia POLBOAT Awards

Lamdo Yachts' eLY30+ electric trawler, developed with ExploMar, secured the Special Boats category at the 2026 Gdynia POLBOAT Awards. Based on the Tony Castro-designed LY30+, this vessel offers three ExploMar propulsion options (up to 225kW peak) with a range of up to 85km on a 60kWh pack, charging via standard 230V outlets. The vessel features a separate 6kW inverter system, CE Category B certification for up to six people, and a starting price of €170,000 from Volta Yachts. Find further details from ExploMar.

Lamdo Yachts' eLY30+ has taken out the Special Boats category at the Gdynia POLBOAT Awards 2026, the first result of a strategic partnership between the Polish trawler builder and Chinese electric propulsion manufacturer ExploMar.

The eLY30+ isn't a new hull. It's an electric reworking of Lamdo's LY30+ Open and Fly Trawler models, both designed by Tony Castro Yacht Design and running on combustion power since 2023. Lamdo had already built two LY30s on ExploMar's WAVE 70+ system before this flagship arrived on the WAVE 300, and the electric version made its public debut at the 2026 POLBOAT Yachting Festival in Gdynia, Poland, one of 29 world and local premieres at a show that pulled in more than 25,000 visitors.

The Gdynia POLBOAT Awards were judged by a ten member jury of marine journalists, yacht designers and naval engineers, with trophies designed by sculptor Adam Stachowicz and handed out at the Polboat Night Gala marking the Polish Chamber of Marine Industry and Water Sports' twentieth anniversary.

Owners choose between three ExploMar propulsion options, the WAVE 70+, WAVE 150 or flagship WAVE 300, paired with battery packs from 60kWh to 240kWh. The show boat at POLBOAT ran the WAVE 300, good for 225kW peak and 150kW continuous power, but the WAVE 70+ is the one with real-world data behind it, having already logged trials on Poland's Masurian lakes.

Over a 36km run between Giżycko and Mikołajki, cabin noise stayed below 60dB at full throttle and dropped under 50dB at cruising speed, using around 24kWh of energy for the trip. Lamdo states a range of up to 85km on the WAVE 70+'s 60kWh battery pack, with roughly 17 hours of continuous running at low speed. The boat tops up from a standard 230V outlet or a compatible AC charger rather than needing dedicated marine charging infrastructure.

Three interior layouts flex the eLY30+ between one and three cabins, and the boat is certified under CE Category B for up to six people or Category C for up to ten, rated to handle winds of up to 27 knots and waves to two metres. A separate LiFePO4 house-energy system, running through a 6kW inverter, keeps the galley and cabin systems running without the propulsion battery taking the hit, while an onboard Victron system handles GPS tracking and remote diagnostics. European dealer Volta Yachts has it listed from €170,000.

Alex Dong, CEO of ExploMar, said the project had proven the technology commercially as well as technically. "From system installation and real-world testing to winning the GPA Award, the eLY30+ project demonstrates the reliability and commercial potential of high-performance electric propulsion in leisure boating and inland water applications," he said.

ExploMar's own material points to Hungary and Germany showing similar appetite for clean-energy inland cruising, alongside Poland.
