Dufour Yachts has been building boats at La Rochelle, France, for more than 50 years, earning a reputation for combining stylish looks with practical features. A workforce of more than 400 skilled craftspeople turns out close to 400 yachts annually, with everything from hull design to interior joinery handled under one roof. The Dufour 44 continues a long-standing collaboration with Italian naval architect Umberto Felci, whose designs are recognised for clean hull lines and efficient use of space.
Step aboard and one of the first things that registers is how much beam the Dufour 44 carries aft. That wide stern gives the cockpit a genuinely spacious quality, working just as well for sail handling on a blustery day as it does for relaxing at anchor. The bathing platform is broad, with double access from the cockpit, making it straightforward to get in and out of the water or set up the plancha grill. That grill has become something of a Dufour signature across the range, sitting naturally within the Dufour 44's outdoor living space.
Down below, interior design duties fell to Luca Ardizio, who has made full use of the boat's generous beam to create a saloon that feels genuinely open. The standout piece is a new hexagonal table, large enough to seat up to 10 people when paired with movable stools. It's an arrangement that caters well to social sailing, giving crew, guests, and family a proper place to gather whether at sea or in harbour.
Forward, the owner's cabin is arranged around an island bed and includes its own en-suite bathroom. The emphasis throughout is on natural light, practical storage, and warm, unfussy finishes.
Buyers have four versions to choose from, spanning either three or four cabins. Galley layout is another point of choice: a longitudinal arrangement runs along the starboard side in one configuration, while a forward galley positioned near the mast is available as an alternative, echoing a format Dufour has used across several of its other models. Both options deliver solid bench space and sensible storage for cooking underway.
On deck, the working area between the helm stations and primary winches has been opened up compared with earlier models. Sheet leads, winch placement, and the overall cockpit layout are arranged to keep things uncluttered and logical, whether you're tacking through a busy channel or easing sheets on a relaxed day sail.
Key specifications for the Dufour 44 are as follows. Length overall is 13.91 m (45 ft), hull length is 13.10 m (43 ft), and waterline length is 12.23 m (40.2 ft). Beam measures 4.45 m (14.6 ft) and draft is 2.20 m (7.2 ft). Keel weight is 2,850 kg, fuel capacity is 250 L, water capacity is 250 L with an optional additional 180 L, and the standard engine produces 50 HP.
