Jean-Baptiste Daramy is keeping his spirits up aboard his IMOCA despite particularly unsettled weather on the approach to Guadeloupe.
A rough night brought sharp swings in wind speed, forcing Daramy to ride out a violent squall with gusts reaching 35 knots. Everything remains fine on board.
The challenge now is tactical. The Atlantic has been left without its usual trade winds, so Daramy must find the best strategy to reach Guadeloupe without the reliable downwind push sailors would normally expect at this stage of the crossing.
For now, his focus is on working out the smartest route south and west through a pattern that refuses to settle into anything predictable.
