CTEK has expanded its charger lineup with two new models, the NXT 5 and NXT 15, positioned between the CS ONE and the established MXS series. The goal is straightforward: modern charging for standard 12V battery chemistry, with no complicated configuration required.
The usage pattern CTEK has designed around will be familiar to anyone who keeps a boat. Batteries spend days or weeks sitting idle, then face heavy demand the moment the vessel hits the water. Both NXT models are built with that cycle in mind, combining automatic charge management with a suite of safety protections to remove the guesswork from shore power sessions.
The NXT 5 targets trailer boat owners and small auxiliary systems. Compatible with 12V lead acid and lithium batteries across a broad range of capacities, it handles the kinds of batteries found on most everyday recreational vessels. Desulphation and reconditioning modes are built in, giving the charger a good chance at recovering cells that have been left heavily discharged for extended periods. A clear display keeps the process simple: connect the clamps, choose the appropriate mode, and let the unit do its work.
Safety provisions include spark-free connection and reverse polarity protection, reducing the risk of a hasty clip-on in a dark bilge. Temperature compensation allows the NXT 5 to adjust its charging behaviour whether it is operating in a cold winter shed or during summer heat.
The NXT 15 steps up to a 15-amp output, making it the better fit for larger battery banks, multi-battery setups, or situations where a boat needs to be turned around quickly between outings. It supports AGM and lithium iron phosphate batteries and, like the NXT 5, includes a reconditioning function for batteries that have seen better days.
A feature that distinguishes the NXT 15 is Supply Mode, which delivers a steady 13.6V output. That comes in handy during onboard electrical work, providing a stable voltage source when batteries need to be disconnected from the system.
Both chargers are compact units supplied with heavy-duty cabling suited to real-world marine conditions. CTEK covers the entire NXT Series with a five-year warranty.
