A body has been recovered during the second day of a search for a missing kayaker at Waihi Beach.
Police believe the body to be that of the man reported missing yesterday, though formal identification is ongoing.
The man and his kayak were brought to shore with assistance from the Royal New Zealand Navy and Coastguard Whangamata just before 3pm.
The search began at approximately 5.40pm yesterday and continued through the evening with support from the Police Eagle Helicopter.
