Authorities recovered a body from the sea near Raglan following an incident on Saturday morning.
Police said a report came in at about 10.40am that a person had fallen in the water near Te Akau Split Rock.
A rescue helicopter located and recovered the body approximately an hour later.
Police said inquiries into what happened are under way.
