Boat owners registered with Yachting New Zealand are being asked to weigh in on biocide-free antifouling coatings, with a new survey seeking their experiences and opinions on the alternatives to traditional hull treatments.
Land Water People (LWP) is running the survey on behalf of the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI). It aims to better understand the options currently available, along with the experiences, challenges and barriers faced by boat owners.
Owners are encouraged to take part whether they currently use a biocide-free system or stick with traditional antifouling. The survey covers effectiveness, costs, maintenance, cleaning practices, uptake, and what might make biocide-free options more practical for everyday use.
It's anonymous and takes around five to ten minutes to complete.
Questions about the survey can be sent to recvesselsurvey@landwaterpeople.co.nz.
