UK boat sales and services group Ancasta has acquired Hayling Island equipment specialist Penguin Engineering, adding another marine parts and support business to the services it already offers boat owners.
Trading since 1982, Penguin supplies marine equipment, spare parts and technical support to boatbuilders, marine engineers and owners. It's the sole UK importer for a set of European brands and keeps its own name as part of the Ancasta Group.
Ancasta is best known as a yacht broker, but boat sales are only part of the operation. Ancasta Yacht Services, formed in 2021 when the long-running Hamble Yacht Services refit business merged with Ancasta's commissioning and aftersales arm, runs covered workshops at Port Hamble that handle yachts up to 26m across engineering, maintenance and refit work.
Penguin adds another piece to that offering, chiefly around equipment, spares and technical support. Ancasta chief executive Matthew Shave says the aim is to make boat ownership "as straightforward and well supported as possible," with services available throughout the ownership lifecycle.
For Penguin's existing customers, little changes for now. Ancasta itself has previously carried out a major refit on Nimrod, a Judel/Vrolijk-designed Marten 80 originally built in New Zealand.
