American Magic now has a permanent home. The newly opened American Magic High Performance Center in Pensacola, Florida, gives the sailing programme a year-round base for technical and on-water activity, though its opening came without any announcement of a future America's Cup campaign.
The $20.8 million facility spans 56,000 square feet on Pensacola Bay and was unveiled on Wednesday. It includes direct water access, engineering and composite space, repair areas, and accommodation for racing yachts. Some areas of the site are still being fitted out, with additional equipment and boats due to arrive in the coming weeks.
NYYC American Magic confirmed the centre carries the team's name but is not tied to any specific Cup campaign. Its purpose is broader than that, supporting a range of sailing and technical programmes throughout the year.
The backdrop to the opening matters. In late October 2025, American Magic announced it would not be entering the 38th America's Cup in Naples, citing a Protocol and Partnership Agreement that the team said could not support a sustainable challenge. At the same time, the team confirmed it would continue its work from a new base in Pensacola. That base is now open.
Local officials have welcomed the development as a long-term investment for the region. American Magic has indicated the centre will support around 170 skilled roles across sailing and technical disciplines.
The facility can host activity well beyond an AC75 programme. It is set up to accommodate AC40 campaigns, including the Women's and Youth teams that now form part of the America's Cup structure, as well as Olympic and development pathways. Those programmes can operate entirely independently of a full Cup challenge.
Pensacola gives American Magic a permanent operational base. Whether that base eventually underpins another tilt at the America's Cup remains an open question.
