Swisscom has been named official connectivity partner for this weekend's Rolex Switzerland Sail Grand Prix on Lake Geneva.
The Swiss telecommunications specialist will provide mobile connectivity based on its 5G Standalone network across the two days of racing, Saturday and Sunday, 19-20 September. The network will support both latency-sensitive applications and data-heavy tasks such as video broadcasting.
SailGP group technology director Matt Lord explained the thinking behind the partnership. "SailGP is built around performance. Every second counts, every decision matters and the technology supporting the championship has to perform at the same level as our athletes."
"Working with Swisscom will give us access to advanced 5G Standalone capabilities that can respond to the very different demands we place on connectivity, from time-critical data and communications to applications requiring significant bandwidth and capacity. We look forward to working with them to deliver another unforgettable event in Geneva," Lord said.
Swisscom's Philipp Bichsel sees the same parallel between sport and network performance. "SailGP is all about precision, reliability and performance, and the same applies to connectivity. With 5G Standalone, we can tailor network performance to the needs of specific applications."
Geneva is the 11th stop on SailGP's 13-event 2026 season calendar. Three events remain after this one for teams to lock in a place at the winner-takes-all Grand Final in Abu Dhabi in November.
Thirteen national teams will race identical hydrofoiling F50 catamarans in tight, close-to-shore competition. The home crowd will be cheering on the Explora Journeys Swiss SailGP Team, driven by Sébastien Schneiter alongside strategist Maud Jayet.
Limited tickets remain for the event. Fans can access the Waterfront Grandstand for the full racing action, or opt for the Premium Waterfront Grandstand for the best views of the racecourse.
