Three months out from a 50th anniversary celebration, the 470 class heads to Portorož, Slovenia, for the Masters Cup and the season finale.
The event runs 14–19 September, with a special anniversary dinner on 17 September open to anyone who has ever been part of the 470 family.
The invitation is a broad one. Olympians, Junior World Championship competitors, club racers, and those who simply spent formative time on the water in a 470 are all welcome.
"Once a 470 sailor, always a 470 sailor," the class says, and the Portorož gathering is built around that idea. The goal is to reconnect old teammates and rivals, introduce them to the current generation, and give everyone a chance to share the stories that accumulate over five decades of racing.
