Before the chequered flag had fallen on the inaugural F1H2O Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan, the organisers were already locking in a return.
On race day, H2O Racing CEO Raimondo di San Germano and Aibek Abylkasymov, President of the Kyrgyz Powerboating Federation, signed a Memorandum of Understanding confirming the 2027 F1H2O Grand Prix of Kyrgyzstan. The event will return to Lake Issyk-Kul during the same period of the year.
The 2026 Grand Prix proved a standout debut for the championship in Central Asia, drawing large crowds across the weekend and generating considerable enthusiasm among fans, local communities, and international visitors.
The event also carried significant political weight. Kyrgyz Republic President Sadyr Japarov officially inaugurated the Grand Prix alongside the presidents of Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan, framing the race as both a major sporting occasion and a symbol of regional cooperation.
Off the water, concerts, cultural performances, and entertainment activities lined the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul throughout the weekend, giving the event a festival dimension alongside the competition.
"This year's Grand Prix exceeded all expectations," said di San Germano. "The passion shown by the fans, the commitment of the local organisers and the support of the Kyrgyz authorities made this a truly historic event. Signing this agreement before the end of the inaugural Grand Prix is a clear demonstration of our confidence in the future of F1H2O in Kyrgyzstan."
Abylkasymov was equally emphatic. "Hosting the F1H2O World Championship for the first time in Kyrgyzstan and in Central Asia has been a source of great pride for our country. The success of this inaugural edition has encouraged us to continue investing in the event, and we are delighted to confirm our commitment to welcoming the championship back to Lake Issyk-Kul in 2027."
The MOU, signed before racing had finished, reflects a partnership with genuine momentum, and a shared intent to make Kyrgyzstan a long-term fixture on the F1H2O World Championship calendar.
