Maritimo S50 debut and Caribbean revival draw record 1400 bookings at SCIBS

Two decades have passed since Bill Barry-Cotter introduced the Maritimo 64 at the 2004 Sydney International Boat Show, yet the luxury motor yacht company he built has become something far larger than the sum of its hulls and its order books. What has defined the Maritimo story is a combination of family culture, deep relationships with owners across the globe, and a commitment to boat show debuts that has never wavered since that very first reveal.

Boat shows sit at the heart of that identity, and the brand's Marketing Manager, Simon Stewart, has spoken candidly about why they remain so important. "Boat shows are a great opportunity to connect with prospective buyers and existing owners looking to learn about our latest innovations," he said. "Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) is our home show, located just minutes from our factory. We design our stand with an exclusive VIP owner's area to create a premier space for education and hospitality."

SCIBS carries a significance for Maritimo that stretches well beyond the Australian domestic market. Its location makes it a natural entry point into Asia, something the company has pursued deliberately as it builds its international presence. "SCIBS is highly accessible for Southeast Asian markets due to its proximity and shared time zones," Stewart explained. "As we expand globally, our strategic partners follow a meticulous plan. We establish a presence at premier shows with visuals and scale models, eventually progressing to full vessel displays as the market matures."

That measured, long-term approach to building an overseas presence paid dividends at the 2026 edition of the show. With attendance topping 41,000, Maritimo described the results across both its core brand and its newly acquired Caribbean label as "super results." A six-vessel fleet valued at $38 million was on display, and the crowds that gathered around it were unlike anything the company had seen before, producing a record number of booking registrations to view the range.

At the centre of all that attention was the S50 Sedan, which made its global debut at SCIBS. "The excitement surrounding the S50 has been outstanding, drawing continuous lines since opening day," Stewart said. "We have seen an incredible number of inspections across our entire range, from the S50 up to our flagship M75, despite current market conditions. Clients travelled from New Zealand, Australia, Asia, and the USA specifically for these releases."

Alongside the S50 launch, one of the most compelling threads running through the show was the return of the Caribbean brand. A heritage label with a loyal following accumulated over more than 50 years, Caribbean came back to the market following Maritimo's recent acquisition, and the reception it received exceeded all expectations. More than 550 people registered specifically to step aboard the Caribbean 40F and 27F, and when combined with interest across the Maritimo range, the two brands together recorded 1,400 booked inspections, a figure that stands as a record by any measure.

"We were astounded by the feedback," Stewart said. "The response indicates that Maritimo's reimagining has delivered exactly what loyal Caribbean clients have been craving for decades."

Both the refreshed Caribbean models and the broader Maritimo lineup are now produced under a single roof at the company's manufacturing facility in Coomera on the Gold Coast. The integration of that production, set against the reception Caribbean received at SCIBS, points to a new direction for a business already 20 years into its journey. If the first two decades were shaped by the Maritimo 64 and all that followed, the chapters ahead may belong just as much to Caribbean as they do to the flagship range.
