Entry numbers for the 2026 Jeanneau Yachts presented by Mooloolaba Yacht Brokers and 74 Islands Airlie Beach Race Week have surpassed 120, with off-the-beach registrations still being processed as the regatta prepares to get underway.
Racing runs from Friday 7 August through to 13 August, with Regatta Director Jenni Birdsall overseeing a programme that blends island courses, a Bay Race, and windward/leeward racing. New champions will be crowned across a full spread of divisions on the final evening, covering Rating Passage, Performance Racing, Performance Cruising, Non-Spinnaker, Multihull Racing, Multihull Passage, Trailable Yachts and Sports Boats, as well as off-the-beach classes including VX One, Weta 4.4 and One-Design.
ABRW Chairman Terry Archer says the event is built to appeal beyond the racing fleet.
"We have it all covered, from fantastic racing in the beautiful Whitsundays where whales and other sea life put on free shows daily, to our onshore activities that we reinvigorate each year. There is something for everyone ashore, which is why so many competitors bring family and friends with them – and we encourage that," said Archer.
The Festival Village at Whitsunday Sailing Club opens Thursday evening following registration, with live music, food trucks and beverages on offer each night throughout the week. The Official Regatta Opening takes place on the club lawn on Thursday, with live entertainment from Ash Smith kicking off from 1600 hours, followed by the Owners and Skippers Welcome Party.
On Friday morning, a Ronstan Coffee Cart and the chance to try an Orbit Winch are available before racing gets underway. Musto returns this year with a pop-up shop at the club on Thursday and after racing on other days.
Spectators wanting to watch the Day 1 start from the water can join a cruise aboard ZigZag's 80-foot cat Superflyer, running from 9.30am to 12.30pm at a discounted price of $45 per person. Those who prefer to stay ashore can watch from the club balcony overlooking Pioneer Bay.
Friday's post-racing programme includes the 74 Islands Tasting Bar and frozen cocktails from 1600 to 1800 hours, followed by cover and party band The Fox. Friday Night Movies in the Park, in front of the club from 5pm, returns for the whole family.
The week closes with a three-course Presentation Dinner on the lawn and a fireworks display.
